Design ethos

When defining good design, we believe how a product looks barely scratches the surface.

Of course, a good product has to be aesthetic, but it also must satisfy a plethora of qualities. It must be functional, unobtrusive, long-lasting, and most importantly for us – it should excite and evoke a positive emotional response.

As design enthusiasts, we could go on and on about how we design, but we’ve decided to spare your eyes and condensed it down to three key points.

Each product tells a story.

Our end goal is not only to build beautiful things, but to make objects people adore. We think objects we have emotional attachments to will be repaired, and be kept for longer.

Instead of defining Arsene’s aesthetic as say, strictly Asian, Nordic, or European – and create distinct barriers, our inspiration comes from everyday things in life, from all across the globe.

We believe good design is the most universal language – it is understood everywhere.

Aesthetic, down to the last details.

We focus on every single detail and ask ourselves, “why is this thing like this and not like that?”.

Furniture is like architecture in a micro scale. Various things like regulations and contractors can affect how a building is realised, and in the most unfortunate case, it can stray completely from its original concept.

We believe even the littlest details can make or break a design.

Given the opportunity, we choose not to neglect the details, ensuring that the objects we produce are as close as possible to what we had envisioned.

Long lasting, and kind to the environment.

In this throwaway, fast-everything society, we avoid being trendy.

We work with earthy tones, natural materials, and an inoffensive colour palette that are suitable for many occasions, instead of being a fashionable art piece.

This means our pieces will fit almost everywhere and will not look out of place in the years to come.

You know the saying, ‘Buy once, buy well’? We’re big fans.

We want the future of design to be slightly different.

Ultimately, our long term goal have always been to provide carefully considered designs for the most.

In the world of fast-paced, low quality replica designer furniture, we want to think different. We choose thoughtfulness as opposed to short term gain in hopes that one day, this will trigger change.

Through many years and months of blood, sweat, tears, and sawdust, we managed to conceive a first collection that is 100% designed and produced in house.

This was done to give Arsene a face and a visual direction, in the aims of attracting like-minded creators and designers for future collaboration.

We have tasked ourselves to assemble a cohort of designers with one purpose – to create the next generation of design icons.

Instead of looking into the past, we must look into the future.
